A unique challenge was the bump-out area designed for headroom over the basement stairs. It protruded awkwardly into the kitchen, looking like an unfinished lower cabinet space. We transformed it by adding detailed paneling to mimic furniture-grade cabinetry, then topped it with matching countertop material for a clean, usable surface. To maximize openness and add personality, we installed floating shelves above the bump-out—perfect for merchandising prized possessions like family heirlooms, plants, or curated collectibles.
